I am looking to purchase a LCD TV with an HD Tuner and NTSC Tuner. I want something that looks good hooked up to my standard Dish Network Receiver, Old Xbox, PS1 etc… My HD programming will be used later. Any suggestions from personal experience is appreciated

Well from the little experience I had as a Dish Network installs trainee. I’d say a Sony with the wega engines and such is a good start. Make sure it’s the HDTV and has the built in tunners like you said. Also HDMI or DVI imputs work the best for the best picture quality even better then s video or the composite cables the red blue and green. From what I’ve seen so far. And yes Dish Network HDTV rocks best picture and sound I’ve ever seen.

I just bought a 40″ Samsung and have been pleased with it. My recommendation is that you get a tv w/ dual hdmi inputs to allow for hd from Dish network as well as from your dvd…

I am not sure how to answer your question, but I will tell you some things you may not know. Current LCD picture quality is fantastic. I have a plasma panasonic 42″ 720p. The 1080i is slightly better in picture resolution. If you have the money buy it instead of the 720p. Both are now labeled “HD” so be careful with a salesman. You definitely want a built in tuner. My tv has this feature and we pick up about 20 extra channels all in HD for free in our market. We have considered not even renewing our dish network. However, the dish network is definitely a great picture quality. We had Digital Cable with a few HD channels in the past and the quality of sound and picture are so mutch better with Dish. I think you will be satisfied with any of the new formats LCD, plasma, DLP. I think they are all great, some have advantages and disadvantages. LCD is supposed to not move as fast as plasma, but plasma is supposed to lose brightness in a few years. I have had my plasma now for two years and I can’t notice a difference. The DLP’s are cheaper, but are much larger and heavier and bulkier than many of the LCD’s and plasmas. Buy a name brand, with a good warranty. I had a problem with my Panasonic plasma and I had it fixed in a short amount of time for free as it was under warranty. Here’s some advice on the warranty: Call the manufacturer instead of the store you bought it from. I bought mine from Ultimate. Ultimate services many brands of products and makes a good income by billing out warranty service work. The problem is that can take much longer than many other authorized service providers. The manufacturer can set you up with qualified companies much, much faster.
