Do I Really Need To Buy One Of These New Lcd/plasma Tvs – Will My Regular Tv Work In A Few Years?

I am considering purchasing a larger like 32″ TV and I see the prices for regular tv’s are really low – I really dont care about high def and all that crap – with my cable hooked up – the picture is fine. I think electronics companies just want you to keep spending money with them, especially with prodcuts like tv’s which can last a very long time so they keep coming out with new things to try and put you in “keeping up with the Joneses mode” even if the difference is not that great. Like from vinyl to 8 track to cassette to CD to MP3 – i mean if you just had one and kept it for twenty years – they would make a lot less money!!! Like Beta to VCR to DVD. I have seen HI-DEF tv’s and if you are watching something the detail is better like the grass on a football field, but i dont need to see a movies stars facial bumps and nosehairs – i am fine with the regaulr tv recpetion and no I am not a technophobe I own a PDA, computer, etc….
Yes, your TV will work. But you won’t have all the pretty bells and whistles. Anyway, TV companies want viewers, so they’re not going to leave people that can’t afford high def TVs in the dark. That would be stupid, because not everyone can afford those sets eight now. I mean, they still make video tapes, so I’m sure they’ll still make regular DVDs and have regular televisionn available for awhile.
I’m gonna wait a little while until the price goes down. I don’t need to see someone’s pores and every little hair either.

Sounds to me like you answered your own question! Go cheap!
picture quality is better with LCD and plasma but if you wanna go with whats cheapest stick with regular TV. If you want to go wide screen go LCD plasma technology is gonna go the way of beta and eight tracks.
You dont need to buy an HDTV now, but it will be the next standard in video display.
If you believe your NTSC television will take you into the future, your going to be dissapointed.
Like the price for any new technology, your going to see the prices that only the rich and famous can afford, but the price will drop.
Remember the price of cell phones? Only large companies or rich people could afford to have them!
