First HDTV buyer. I’ve bought my old tube TV 6 years ago, and new age of technology came, and it’s time for me to follow…
I’m looking for a 40 inch LCD HDTV (budget range $1000-1200) Hopefully 1080p and high contrast ratio…
Also.. Home Theatre (budget range $200)
HDMI cables + surge protector + TV stand (budget range ($300)
Total budget range : max $1700
Any suggestion of what else I need?
Also… What TV should I buy? When is the best time to buy a TV?
thanks!!

Don’t forget the screen cleaner! Yes, there is a special cleaner for LCD & Plasma screens. If you use anything harsh, you run the risk of marking the screen. Yes, it’s probably $20. but it will last you about 3 years!
Best time? I personally think as the summer progresses and with the economy, you might see some better sales, but I wouldn’t swear to it!
Best TV? Watch several for more than a couple of minutes, better yet, watch the same model in a couple of different stores. Pick the one that your eye finds the most pleasing. Despite all the technology, picture is still a subjective thing and varies from person to person.

20,000:1 contrast, 5ms response, PIP, 3 HDMI inputs, what else do you need?
