Hd/qam Channels Stall On Tv?

I have a 32″ Dynex (Best Buy Brand) LCD TV. It has an HD tuner which allows me to receive QAM channels. I don’t have a cable box, only basic cable, mostly local channels. However, whenever I turn to one of these QAM channels, it “stalls the TV, as in it won’t respond to absolutely anything for about 30-60 seconds or so. It is very annoying, especially when “channel flipping.”
Does anyone know why this might be happening?

  1. TV Tech 1 says:

    Because it’s a DIGITAL SIGNAL….
And because it’s a DIGITAL SIGNAL, it has to build an ENTIRE PICTURE with 1’s and 0’s, rather than the very versatile Analog signal which could be applied instantly to the old TV picture tubes…
We have to Buffer a Digital signal to create the very first frame of picture. Once we get the first frame then updating it is VERY FAST…
But when you channel surf, you have to wait for that first frame to load…
That’s why ALL TVs will stall watching Anything on Any INPUT…Tuner to HDMI, they will ALL STALL.
    Welcome to HD Land…
