I want to hook up my Sony MHC ZX70 stereo speakers to my LG 42″lcd tv and have it play only what is on the tv how do I do this?

Since that is an integrated DVD player and speaker system, it may not be possible unless the amplifier in the unit has auxiliary audio input jacks of some type. In a perfect world, your TV would have red/white audio output jacks intended for a home theater amplifier (it probably does), and your Sony would have matching red/white aux input jacks.
So maybe that’s what you have, but it’s not likely. DVD players are not ordinarily used as audio amplifiers for something else.
If you’re considering using just the speakers, then you still need some type of amplifier, at least a stereo amplifier connected as I’ve indicated above. Good luck.
