Technically LCD Display ” LIFE ” can use up to more than 70,000 hours. but also depend of TV and Display Manufactures . not all TV manufactures made own LCD Display, except Those Worldwide brand, there use own or Joint venture made . LCD Display panel also come in ” GRADE ” , Word International TV brand always selected Grade AA or A panel for their products. because of prices,those Local in house brand , always use low quality China made. even there may buy from Sony-Samsung JV Korea made , LG-Philips JV Korea made, Taiwan Au-Optron or Chi-Mei made. but go for only grade B type. Grade B panel or China cheap panel , quality is abit low, also not reliable , that is the reason , those OEM.local in-house TV brand 40 %need to replace LCD panel in 2/3 years time or 50% life no more than 5 years. Because is CHEAP. any screen size LCD TV from Sony.Samsung.Sharp.Panasonic.Toshiba.LG .Hitachi. switch on 10 hours a day, 94 % can use up to 10 over years.those very first 42 inc LCD TV in the market by Sony.Sharp,Samsung about 9 years now,still in good condition.and new Technology for 42 inc LCD will be more ” long life “. only from WORLDWIDE Brand maker !
10 – 15 years is the Anticipated lifetime of the TV set. After that parts will be obsolete due to it not being manufactured anymore.
For it to last “a Lifetime” like some are saying here, it would require parts.

When they start to get old then they become less valuable and you only hope they last. They are like computers, after a few years they are worthless because the next best thing will be out (better technology).
how long is a piece of string,, you could buy a tv tomorrow and by saturday its broken or you could buy a tv and it will last you for years and years,,
but a pioneer kuro tv has got a 5yr warranty so they will last longer than that,,
lcds last forever, since they dont have plasma that burns out over time…
