I have a xbox 360 elite and i want a new HDTV. LCD seems the best but i hear it hikes your power bill. Is it true? any recomendations on TVs. Im thinking a 27 to 32 inch.

By display power consumption (ascending order)
1. Microdisplay Rear Projection
2. LCD
3. Plasma + CRT – the same.
The most economical is the projection with one lamp and one microdisplay LCD (but you do have to replace those $350 laps every couple of years).
Next is the LCD. It is fairly economical while it’s on.
There’s a few reasons why an LCD will jack up your price though. First is that the picture will look so amazing, that you’ll be keeping in on all day ;P
Second and more important is the features of the TV. Additional features, bigger speakers also use power.
AND they use power while they’re off. Yup. The “Standby mode” turns off the display lights, but not everything. It keeps the TV in a state where it can quickly come back on, rather than having it start up from scratch (like some Samsungs do, just takes 3-4 seconds more).
One very important thing you need to look for is the Energy star logo. It means that it was certified to use less than 10 watts while in standby. The less, the better.
If you’re concerned about power usage, look at wattage and standby wattage of TVs and you’ll get your comparrisons depending on how much you use it (a power save mode feature also helps).
A rough estimate if a CRT cost you $150 a year (that’s one big CRT) then an LCD of the same size would be $200 a year.
LCD uses less than a tube tv or a plasma.
Worst case would be it would HIKE your bill a whole $6.00 a MONTH….and that’s if you still use the OLD tv in another room. AND you run it Eight hours EVERYDAY…
AND you pay 10 cents a Kilowatthour….
A whole Six bucks….Wow….that’ll put a crimp in my Lifestyle…guess I’ll have to forgo eating…..
