The life span on both have greatly increased over the models from years past, the only pressing issues with plasmas are, burn in of still images such as video game scores, and those stock type scrollers at the bottom of the screen, its kinda hard to burn them in unless you never change the channel, also glare is a issue if your room is sunny, but in my opinion plasmas picture is superior to lcd, its more vibrant and color full, also it has more adjustment, but lcd is very comparable, some lcds cost more, and with any flat panel you get what you pay for, dont skimp steer clear of sams club type tv’s…….

I recently purchased a Sharp LCD HD TV. It is the LC52D92U and would highly recommend it to anyone.
