I’m Ready To Buy A Lcd Tv, Which Brands To Stay Away From? I’m Looking At Samsung, Toshiba, Sony, Sharp, Lg?

I’m trying to decide which TV is going to be best for us.
I bought my first LCD about 3 years ago, a 42′ Envision 720p which looked great at the time, but recently has lost a lot of its sharp clarity (but still looks like a good HD picture don’t get me wrong) just now as good as the ones i see in stores these days. I knew over some years it would wear, but I didnt expect such a drop off in 3 years. Guess thats because it was an Envision.
Anyways, I’m currently shopping some 37 to 42 inch tv’s. Some 60 hz, Some 120hz. I’ve leaning towards either a 40 Toshiba Regza 1080 120hz, 40 Sony Bravia 1080 60 hz, or 42 LG 1080 120hz
I just don’t know which brands are the best. I know the Samsung is top quality from what I hear, and I saw a Sharp AQUOS I liked but have been told to stay away from Sharp by friends.
Whats your expert opinions on these brands of LCD HDTVS?

none of your answers so far mentioned Toshiba so i’ll throw in my 2 cents on them. i bought a 40″ last christmas so i’ve had it 9 months w/o a problem. personally i don’t think it matters anymore what brand you buy. you’re going to get lemons all the time and you’re going to get peaches all the time. quality isn’t an issue anymore. they make so many so cheaply that they’ll just let you return it and get another one. one point though, if your room is 25 x 20 and you’re watching sports, i’d get a bigger size if you can. 54″ anyway good luck
Samsung and Sony are good brand to get.Good quality, great picture. For around $1000 I would recommend Samsung LN40B630 40-Inch 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTV with Red Touch of Colorhttp://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001U3Y…
or form Sony I would sugegst Sony BRAVIA W-Series KDL-40W5100 40-Inch 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTVhttp://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002BGV…
LG is pretty good. I just got one 42″ Plasma LG, and it work really nice, the picture are sharp, sounds are good and crisp. Plus, it’s more affordable compare to other.
However, if you have the budget, then get the Samsung still. it got the best picture and sound quality. I also have one of Samsung 50″ Plasma. Perfect for your entertainment center!
1. How much money are you willing to spend.
2. Will the screen be anywhere near outside light?
3. What are the dimensions of the room the tv will be in?
4. Will you be watching movies, or sports?
5. Will there be any kids around under the age of 10?
Answer those, and I can help you more.
stick with Samsung & Sony. They are made in the same plant and use the same screen. Sony products tend to be overpriced. Would recommend Samsung.
The business end of all LCD tv sets is made by either Samsung or LG. All the rest just re-badge their components.
stay away from everything except for sony, pioneer elite, hitachi.. those are the good brands.
Samsung is one of the best brands, I have had a Samsung 1080i LCD now for 2 years and love it.
SAMSUNG SUCKS! Please do not buy from them there product is cheep made and over priced for what you get,
Samsung and LG are great…I just bought a Samsung falt screen and I love it.
No offense to your friends but sharp makes very good tvs. There are so many tvs on the market now though so it is hard to choose. I’d recommend asking someone at your closest best buy or somewhere else that doesn’t have sales commisions. At futureshop for example they’ll usually lean to the more expensive model but a best buy they offer straight, honest and intelligent opinions. Not to say futureshop is a bad store LOL.
