When I used to sell LCD tvs this was a common question. In standard definition broadcasts, they will look blurry unless viewed from a distance on a smaller tv. This is a downfall of LCD tvs. Your HD programming should look fine, and if it doesn’t, you should look to your source.
CRT Tvs have a better contrast ratio than most LCDs, but no manufacturer makes HDCRTs anymore.

You can adjust the picture to not look so bad.
To get the full quality your TV can view, you need to get HD digital cable with an HD box, or switch to antenna to get the broadcast HD channels.
It would depend on your TV source, if you are watching SD programming they may be blurry depending on your TVs ability to upscale(improve image quality) if you have an HD source make sure you are using the proper connectors or you will get poor image quality.
are you using component cables? do you get hd channels in your cable/satellite/fiber optic/whatever package?
