Depends on how much you are going to spend. Since u have a ps3 go for a 1080p tv. Even though it will cost more, it is well worth it. See i used to work at Sears and other electronic retail stores. When working with customers, i try to find the best deal for them. So what u need to do is try to find a store that has the same model at sears and price match it. Also with sears they can add on 0% financing on ur tv purchase. This allows u to buy a tv that u thought u cant afford . Like u can buy a $1900 tv for $100 a month.
Theres two types of tv plasmas and LCD
Plasmas: Forget everything bad thing u heard about these. Technology improved where the screen will constantly move preventing any burn in images. They have faster response time, which means the screen will constantly refresh and give u a more fluid picture. They last as long as LCD. Also gives u a true black. Importantly they are cheaper.
LCD: One thing to look for is a faster response time. There are tv that have 4ms response time. The standard i believe is 8ms. Since u play ps3. or even watch sports. it is important to have a fast response time. LCD gives u a brighter picture. Also look at the constrast ratio. The higher it is the better the quality.
The tv i recommend buying is the Samsung LNT4069. One of the best tv’s out there right now. 120hz processing and 20,000:1 contrast ratio. 1080p plus if u have fry’s electronics. I play video games alot and watch sports. I have the Samsung LNT5271 which is the upper model which the only difference is the high glossy screen which sometimes creates a glare. But amazing picture, which makes pictures pop out at you.
Samsung 69 and 71 series. Also the Sony XBR 4 are at a whole another level than any other tvs.
get a Sony 46″ Bravia XBR-Series LCD HDTV (KDL-46XBR4).
i have my ps3 hooked up to this tv via a Monster Cable – M Series 8′ HDMI A/V Cable and the quality of the blue ray movies and game graphics look really good.
