Laptop To Lcd Tv Connection Troubleshooting?

I’ve just bought a 32″ Technika LCD TV and was hoping to be able to connect my laptop to it (for movies etc.)
I have an S-video to Composite Video (and L/R audio) but the TV doesn’t seem to register a connection. I’ve gone to the control panel>appearances>display settings> etc etc (Vista). but my computer doesn’t seem to register the TV either! The TV doesn’t have a PC input or any other connection types (but it does have 2 HDMI ports if they would work). Is it possible that my TV just won’t do it, and if so shall I just give up? :(
Help please!

Hiya, once the S-Video cable is connected to the laptop and to your TV try right-clicking your desktop and usually there should be some video output options appearing on the right click menu about now. (Your laptop won’t output to the TV straight away.) If this fails, try hitting the F10 button, it usually helps the laptop force a video signal if it’s Vista You’re using, but I think F10 only works with VGA connections. :)
