Personally, I’d go for the Samsung. They’re throwing out some really excellent LCDs at the moment. That said, I’d probably go for the newer LE40N73BDX or LE40R87BDX (LE40M87BDX if I could splurge) instead of the LE40S73BDX.

the samsung is a lcd, the lg is plasma.
if you watch sports or fast moving films or games get the lg. But there are better plasmas out there.
if not nothing wrong with the samsung ( it is a great tv )
hopr this helps wg
go for LG, samsung has this bad after sales service. My friend needed a new keypad for her samsung microwave,
they said they would get back to us, it’s been 2 weeks! Frustating!
Of the two, I’d go for the Samsung. A friend has a 42 inch LG lcd and its rubbish, even with the contrast turned to a decent level.
If you can afford it, go for a Pioneer plasma They are highly regarded as the best. Also, buy your new tv online, as you will save hundreds.
Go for the 42″ or bigger if you can afford it.
The samsung model is not a bad buy however it all comes down to what you are using it for
The LG is a 42″ as opposed to the 40″ and is an LCD not a plasma as someone has put
the LG is also HDTV-compatible which means it will keep its place in the changing technology for just that little bit longer
when it comes to staying power however the LG is one of the low end (cheaper) manufacturers and is not designed for long use, by that i mean being on for 8 hrs a day every day
so if you only watch it during the evening when you get home from work then fine but if its on all day every day probably best to go with another manufacturer
think about when you watching it and what your watching on it
if your like me and like sports/action but have a life outside the four walls of your house then go with the 42″LG
but if you can spend that little bit extra go with a 42″ plasma it’ll make all the difference
if its gonna be on all day with the kids watching cartoons or soaps etc then the samsung
good luck

Samsung, they’re the ones that seem to be most popular at work (part time at Currys) and we don’t get many come back and I’m sure my manager would recommend it as well! If you can buy an LCD, much more vibrant than plasmas and last a lot longer because, plasmas run on a gas system. The supposed life of a plasma TV is 5-10 years but LCD is meant to be longer than this! And don’t forget to get the full benefit of HDTV, you need something to supply you with a HD picture such as, Sky HD etc. Hope thid helps! Good luck!
