Its about time that I upgrade my videogaming experience, so I am out to get a 32″ or 37″ LCD tv. But should I make the price jump to get a 1080p/1080i tv? Or would a 720p/720i tv be just fine. What is the difference between 1080/720 anyway?
I would like to not spend much more than $700.

at 32″ or 37″, a 1080p tv is NOT WORTH it.
i recommend only getting 1080p for tv’s 42″ and higher. any lower than that, and it really doesn’t make much difference.
720p is what you want. the difference between 720p and 1080p is the number of pixels. 720p is about the same as 1080i
do not get a 720i. that is bad quality.
i recommend samsung lcd. samsung and sony make the same quality tv’s (i personally think samsung is a little better, and so do a lot of tv experts) but if you really want a sony tv, you can pay the extra couple hundred for…. the same quality. (sony has expensive tv’s for some reason. they are about the same quality as samsung’s)
a 720p samsung lcd 32″ will cost $568.

a 720p samsung lcd 37″ will cost $811

of course these are just amazon’s prices. i’m sure if you look around hard enough, you can find some great deals on these.
720p means it has a maximum resolution of 1280h X 720v pixels in progressive scan. 1080p means it has a max resolution of 1920h X 1080v pixels in progressive scan. 1080i on the other hand, has a higher resolution than 720p, but the picture quality is not very much better than the latter. There are some great models from Samsung and Sony. You could buy Sony Bravia Z series, X series or W series. You also have Samsung. I hope it satisfies you. Look into Wikipedia’s article of “720p” and “1080p” for detailed info.
it really doesnt matter right now if you get the 720 p or 1080 p if your tv is going to be just 32 or 37 in
right now there are not many stuff in tv that actually needs the 1080p to look better and theres really not that much of a difference so just get the 720
you can get a 1080p tv for 700 dollars ez. it wont be a s big though maybe about 32 inches
