Why Does My Tv Make A Buzzing/humming Noise With A Volume That Changes With A Change Of Picture?

I have a 42″ LCD TV with Freeview (although I have noticed this problem on other TVs) and the sound has a buzzing element (mains humming) where the intensity keeps changing with picture content e.g. going from one advert to another.
