When Watching Hd Channels On My 42″ Lcd Hd Tv The Picture Will Not Fill The Entire Screen…?

I can zoom to correct it but then I lose the full picture, Any one know he reason for this and if there’s a fix? It’s only the HD channels that don’t fill the screen, normal channels work fine.
