Help Needed With Buying A New Hd Tv. Lcd Or Plasma?

Hi, our old sony wide screen tv has just packed up and i’m looking to buy a new larger tv. However I’m really confused of what to get. I’m looking at buying a 37″- 42″ TV.
Can anyone offer some advice of the following:-
Whats best LCD or Plasma? and why?
Whats a good make for about £1000? LG, Samsung, Sony, Panasonic?
I watch alot of movies and sports. Do I need 100htz?
Any advice would really be helpfull.

I have a 42 inch LCD samsung tv flat no back…on a swivel stand…Looks good. Well i went to a friends they had a 50 inch DLP samsung with a back on it but not a huge back…and it actually had me thinking it looked better…i dont know if it was the size mine being 42 and his 50…or mine being LCD and his DLP…i compared playing the ps3 on both and his seemd to look better to me. So is it size or is dlp better than lcd…both were 1080i tvs.
And if you can suggest a good tv.size(probably 50inch),,.brand,style,1080i or 1080p…this will be for my living room to watch blu rays, tv, and play games but games only sometimes

I have a 42″ flat-panel LCD Winbook TV that just stopped working one day. It was fine, then all of a sudden, it won’t power on. The indicator light stays yellow (usually it’s red when it’s powered off, and green when it’s on). Any ideas?

we have checked online and the manuals and even called magnavox ! We need help! Is there anyway to hook up the surround sound to the television with out the optical cables so that the sound works for tv channels(digital antenna not cable box or satelitte just directly connected with a coaxcable), our ps3 ( hooked up with hdmi cables), and the dvd player(hooked up through the avi1slot. The problem is that it works fine with the dvd player but how can we hook it up where we can get sound for everything? There is no optical cable spot on the dvd player but there is on the tv. It is the only audio out besides the normal avi1,2,3 and the 2 hdmi ports. You cant play the sound from the ps3 or the tv channels unless it is just through the tv since you have to switch the source to get to the audio on the dvd player surround sound. Any suggestions would help ! I really dont have the option of ugrading our surround sound we just bought this one and cant take it back very disappointed it didnt have the optical port on the back only the rca type connections.

I just bought an LG 32″ LCD flat screen HDTV and just using it for 2 days, randomly, I’ll get a huge size solid black square in the center of the TV. Is this a problem with TV??? I only have 5 days to return products,, please advise if this is normal.

I can’t decide between 2 TV’s in particular:

I want to add 2 external speakers to a 32″ LCD TV in bedroom. I am not trying to create a full blown surround sound system or anything like that; just want to improve the quality somewhat. TV speaker output is rated at 10 watts. I am looking at the Bose 161 which list a 10-100 watt rating and wonder if they will work sufficiently. Will the TV amp be continually overworked and prone to breaking? What other speake would you recommend? Thanks.

Hey everyone! I have a 3 year old HP, and I was wondering if I could get a tv screen that also doubles as a monitor. Since I am in need of both, that would save money so I could buy one good quality product! I’m looking for a reallly good HDTV, between 32″ and 42″ Also, if the store could be someplace like Costco with a good return policy that would be great!
