My laptop is an ACER 5720 with s-video port, firewire port, usb port and ethernet port. It also has 3 holes for sound at the front that are depicted by blue, red and black rings (holes size of small headphone jacks). They have symbols for microphone, headphones and what looks like a sound wave type image.
My LCD tv is a HD ready 32″ Regza model by Toshiba. It has loads of red and white slots for audio on back, a few hdmi slots, the 3 colour composite slots of red, yellow and white on the side and a serial port that i already have managed to use on “PC channel” to get laptop on screen but no sound. I think my LCD tv may have an s-video port?
I can get laptop on screen with serial ports but no sound or get sound on video channel by the 3 – colour cable using the headphone socket on laptop.
what is the definitive best all in one cable to do the job to the highest A/V quality and least fuss or cables. And if cable needs to be male/female ends etc.

I am looking to purchase a 42 inch plasma/lcd tv that i’ll be able to connect to my samsung q210 laptop (which has a HDMI port). I connected it to my dads samsung tv just by using a hdmi lead, which worked but it wasnt using the full screen (does that just mean i have to change the settings?)
So should a tv with an HDMI port be the best way to connect or do i need a pc input on the tv? I would like to do this mainly to watch movies but also to browse occasionally.
Any help greatly appreciated!!

i hv purchased a samsung 32″ LCD and i am wanting to watch a dvd thru my laptop. I hv connected a VGA cable from my laptop to samsung LCD and am getting the video output on the LCD but audio is still coming from laptop. I hv tried to connect the laptop headphone pin on one end to three red whit yellow pin cable to the LCD. Yet there is no audio output from the TV and audio from laptop has also gone. can anyone guide me how to get dvd audio output from my sony vaio laptop to samsung 32″ LCD? Thanks.

I have been having trouble figuring out how to plug my toshiba laptop into a westinghouse 32″ lcd tv. Is there a setting I have to adjust on the laptop? Something on the tv that I am forgetting about? Anything would help.

I’ve just bought a 32″ Technika LCD TV and was hoping to be able to connect my laptop to it (for movies etc.)
I have an S-video to Composite Video (and L/R audio) but the TV doesn’t seem to register a connection. I’ve gone to the control panel>appearances>display settings> etc etc (Vista). but my computer doesn’t seem to register the TV either! The TV doesn’t have a PC input or any other connection types (but it does have 2 HDMI ports if they would work). Is it possible that my TV just won’t do it, and if so shall I just give up?
Help please!

Hi, I bought a 42″ RCA LCD TV. I noticed that it has a vga port in the rear. So I bought the appropriate cable and connected to my Gateway laptop. Went into desktop properties/settings and extended my desktop to the second monitor. Nothing really seems to happen. I used the troubleshoot feature and didn’t get anywhere. I also checked my drivers and it seemed ok, did I miss a step?
Please if anyone has gone through this can you drop me a hint.

I have a Sony Vaio VGN-N38E Laptop and a 32″ Samsung LCD TV – bought a male – male HDDB15 RGA cable but when i plug it in, i get the option to chose 2 screens etc on my laptop but my TV shows there as being no PC in.
Can anyone help?

Hi… I have recently baught a Samsung 32 inch 3series LCD TV, to be specific samsung LN32A330 (LN32A330J1DXZA). I was trying to connect my HP laptop to the TV using the 15 pin male VGA connector. Surprisingly it is not working at all. I have checked the source list in the menu after connecting, but it doesnt show me the PC option enabled.
To check if my cable has some problem, I have tried the same steps in LG LCD TV. It worked fine. I was able to view the display in TV properly. So the problem is in Samsung TV or some settings which i do not know. Can anyone help me to solve this probelm? Anyone experienced the same?

Just bought a Toshiba 32″ tv and want to connect my crappy Acer laptop. I need a HDDB15 male to HDMI lead or adapter but they don’t seem to exist. Is there any other way to do it? I have an Acer Aspire 3055WXMi laptop and a Toshiba AV55 32″ REGZA LCD tv.
Any help would be gratefully received.
