I have a Sony 32″ LCD TV (model number KDL-32S2000) that has a cracked screen. To repair it would cost upward of $1,000. I have another television that I am using at the moment but I would like to get some of the money from my old TV back. Would it be possible to sell it for parts? It works fine except for the broken screen. Thanks in advance for the answers.

Our old 32″ TV died and its time to get a nice HDTV. I’ve ruled out plasma, so its down to LCD. The newer LED-LCD seem to have a more crisp picture and better contrast than the standard LED. In partcicular I like the Samsung. But a 47″ LED-LCD is almost $500 more than the standard LCD. Is it worth the extra?

If you want the cheapest then go to one of the on-line retailers, and be prepared for trouble if the set goes faulty.
If you want the BEST place then go to a brance of John Lewis. They sell only the best brands and will price match to any of the local high street stores like Curry’s etc.
John Lewis also have trained staff who know lots about what they’re selling and won’t bullshit you if they don’t know something.
You also get a free 5 year guarantee. That would cost you an extra £200 or so in Curry’s or Comet.
As for value for money, well. With LCD tvs you get what you pay for. The cheap models are genuinely not as good as their more expensive bretheren. You loose out on Contrast Ratio, Viewing Angle, Sound quality, number of SCARTs (important if you don’t want to mess about with combiner boxes), general build quality and reliability.
As a rule of thumb stick to proper brands like Panasonic, Philips, Sony, LG and similar. Avoid Goodmans, or any “own brands” or unrecognised brands (unknownn build quality and trouble getting fxed). If you pay less that £800 for a 37″ then consider it “cheap” (unless it’s on a special offer).

I want to but a LCD of 32″. Have seen samsung 3/4/5 series, sony bravia V/S/T series,Philips and LG. confuse which one to purchase. Can anyone guide who have good knowledge on LCD. Samsung 5 series is full HD 1080, others all are HD Ready. i do not know the differrence. sound wise no one is good. each model have 20 W speakers. sony have bravia, philips have pixel plus,…all are confusing. please guide me
