I Have Just Purchased A Lg 42″ Lcd Tv. The Picture Settings Are Just Not Quite Right, Though. Any Suggestions?

I try to adjust the contrast, brightness, av mode (vivid, standard, etc) but sometimes the picture looks distorted or not bright enough.

What Is My 32″ Lcd Tv Worth 2 Years Since I Purchased It?

It has been on the lowest brightness since the day it was purchased. However it has been seeing daily use for approximately 8 hours a day for almost 2 years. It is hooked up to a VGA cable to my computer.
