Pros of Plasma
- Better contrast ratio, better motion tracking, better ability to render deep blacks, they are available in larger size.
Cons of Plasma
- more susceptible to burn-in but has been solved at some extend with the new TV
- more heat and power consuption
- heavier weight
For Plasma I recommend Panasonic or Samsung
Pros of LCD
- no burn-in
- cooler running
- more functional at high altitudes
- longer display life
- less power consumption than Plasma.
Cons of LCD
- Lower contrast ratio
- rendering deep blacks compare to Plasma are not so good
- not good at tracking motion but still trying 120Hz or 240Hz refresh rates
For LCD I recommend Samsung or LG

lcd hands down…plasma is garbage….
lcd, plasma is dying product
it depends on your situation. plasma usually have a wider viewing angle. however lcd are better in high and low light situations, as well they use a lot less power and create less heat. personally i prefer an lcd. there are other factors to consider when buying a tv too. it costs more money, but i would definitely say get a tv with a very good refresh rate, it’s essential for watching sports. and if you really feel like spending money why not just blow the bank on a new 3d tv haha. hope that helps
lcd is the best
Each technology have their pros & cons
Plasma : Better contrast ratio, better ability to render deep blacks, more color depth, better motion tracking (response time), more availability in very large screen sizes.
But more susceptible to burn-in (although this is not as much of a factor now, due to technology improvements in the past few years), more heat generation (as well as more power consumption), screen glare in brightly lit rooms, heavier weight, and more delicate to ship.
If you have dark room, want it for watching sports, watching normal tv Plasma is a good choice. Good brand that I would recommend for Plasma is Panasonic or Samsunghttp://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.html?i…
LCD : No burn-in susceptibility, cooler running, less screen glare, more functional at high altitudes, longer display life (although improvements are being made in Plasma screen life), looks better in brightly lit rooms, less power consumption than Plasma.
But LCD have lower contrast ratio, not as good rendering deep blacks, not as good at tracking motion (although this is improving, especially with the implementation of 120Hz refresh rates (and some now offer 240Hz) on higher-end models).
If you have bright room, want it foe gaming, connect to computer then LCD is a safer choice for you.
Good brand for LCD that I would recommend is Samsung or Sonyhttp://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.html?i…
