I have been having trouble figuring out how to plug my toshiba laptop into a westinghouse 32″ lcd tv. Is there a setting I have to adjust on the laptop? Something on the tv that I am forgetting about? Anything would help.

go to http://www.svideo.com/displayvideo.html for video walk through
You can connect a laptop to a tv using:
============================
Hdmi connection – (This picks up video AND sound)
VGA/Serial Cable – (You also connect a White + Red composite cable to the laptop to pick up sound.)
DVI Connection – (Some pick up audio but more then likely you’ll need the stereo cable for sound)
S-video cable – (You also connect a White + Red composite cable to the laptop to pick up sound.)
Displayport – (You would need a displayport to hdmi adapter, these are common for NEW laptops.)
The 3.5mm stereo to white & red composite cable looks like this:

(You can either connect it to a receiver or the tv for audio)
-Set the input on your LCD TV, if it is using an HDMI cable, hit input on your control or tv and select it.
- Next you have to “right click” on your laptops desktop or look for the “graphics control panel.”
- ATI or NVIDIA Control Panel
- Then configure the Laptop and LCD TV
- Typical options: You can mirror the image on both screens, set either screen to be the primary and use them as dual screens, and or set it to use only 1 screen.
-Done, enjoy!
Usually there is a key combination that will cycle through the video options (laptop screen, TV screen, both at the same time). Check your laptop manual, but most often it will be the Alt key plus an F key (like Alt + F5 pressed at the same time).
Also, check in your video card settings that the TV is shown as a connected display device. If it is not, refresh the system in Device Manager to search for newly installed devices (up at the top – Action > Search for new devices).
