Unable To Get Audio From Laptop To Lcd Tv?

i hv purchased a samsung 32″ LCD and i am wanting to watch a dvd thru my laptop. I hv connected a VGA cable from my laptop to samsung LCD and am getting the video output on the LCD but audio is still coming from laptop. I hv tried to connect the laptop headphone pin on one end to three red whit yellow pin cable to the LCD. Yet there is no audio output from the TV and audio from laptop has also gone. can anyone guide me how to get dvd audio output from my sony vaio laptop to samsung 32″ LCD? Thanks.

    I assume you are using a mini-jack (headphone connection on laptop) to RCA Audio (red and white) – it is difficult for me to understand it. If this is NOT the cable you are using, please explain further.
    Yellow is video – do not connect it if using VGA input. Make sure you are connecting the audio to the same input channel as the VGA – you will have to refer to the manual to verify. Some state that if you use the VGA, you have to use Audio input “X”. Can you scan the input to see if you have audio but no video? If so, this means the audio is on the wrong channel.
    Otherwise as a test, do you have SVideo out on the laptop – usually SVideo is combined with the Red and White RCA connectors in the same input channel and are next to each other. This will verify that the laptop is correctly setup for audio..
