I bought yesterday 32″ LCD (gross wt. 20 kg) and HOme theater system Gross weight 19 kg. I and my husband will be going back to phils this month. can we hand carry this item? Or if not, do we have to pay tax to dubai airport and again to Philippine airport when we get there? Please help how to make it less costly?

you are allowed to bring one electronic item if you are an OFW/FCW.
hand carry? no, u cant.
How on Earth can you expect to Hand Carry a 32″ LCD TV that is 20KG? And place it on the Over Head Bin of the Plane? There is a specific dimension and number of bags you can carry on board a plane. Usually it is about the size of a Laptop Bag and a Hand Bag, that is all.
OFW from what I know are allowed to bring in to the Philippines 1 electronics appliance per OFW. Just bring along your receipt should they want to charge you TAX…usually it is just minimal it will not cost you the cost of the LCD TV. You can try to declare it used or personal effects. Since it is just 1 unit…I do not think they will be that strict about it.
There is no such tax in Dubai.
A box like that..considering the dimensions and the weight could not be hand carried….but definitely it could be included with your luggage.
Read the Bureau of Customs Web site…there is an exemption for an OFW returning to Phils after being away more than 6 months..and there are other exemptions for returning balikbayan.
Another thing in your favour is that husband and wife each get
a 10, 000 peso exemption.
Just give the custom officer 500 pesos inside your passsport.
I have so many electronics when they oppened my bag. usually they dont open it.
but when they do… they always check for your passport.
I always put 500 pesos or 600 pesos inside it… they already know this trick and will buy it always… then they wont have to tax u or check ur laggage.
