I’m thinking that a between a 32″ and a 26″ should be adequate. I would like to play games on it as well such as xbox.

before i saw the details of your question, i was thinking exactly 32″. its perfect size and pretty affordable too. if ur gonna play xbox, dont get a plasma! however, anything smaller may be too small, especially if ur playing halo from ur bed XD
If you are buying a TV it is important to match your screen size to your room size.
Too big a screen in too small room and you will be backing away from it.
Too small screen in too big a room and you will not be able to see fine detail properly.
High-definition televisions have a width to height ratio of 16:9 rather than 4:3.
This means if you are watching a standard programme on one of the new high-definition television sets the image will appear smaller.
As a rule of thumb the optimum high-definition television screen size is worked out with this simple calculation …
Screen size (inches) equals maximum viewing distance in metres times 8.7
As an example for a viewing distance of 3 metres you would need to pick a television that is 3 times 8.7 equals 26.1 so the optimum screen size would be 26 inches.
