The Samsung LN32A550 (series 5 1080p) or the Sony KDL32D3100 32?
The Sony has the 100HZ technology and the Samsung doesn’t. But the Samsung has 1080p resolution. I’ve seen a 32″ 1080p along side a 32″ 720p SHARP and there IS a difference in picture quality. I know little about the benefits of 100hz technology in regards to gaming. Can anyone help with this? Thanks.

When looking at televisions for gaming, you should compare the refresh rates. The Samsung has a 5ms refresh rate while the Sony has an 8ms refresh rate. The lower the number, the better. The Samsung would be my picked based on the refresh rate and the fact that it is 1080p. There is a huge difference in picture quality and it is noticeable. In buying the Sony, you would be buying an older television. I would go with the Samsung hands down. It seems to be better all around. I am sure you can find some good deals on buy.com or amazon.com too. I hope I helped!
The person above is correct – however, the models that you’re choosing are close to the same specs. If cost matters to you, then go with the Samsung.
If the cost does not matter, then you need to look at the tv models one more. You have last year’s models.
Go for this years models if you can: Samsung LN32A650 or from Sony, the XBR series.
